FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
To celebrate Northern Territory artists and creators in 2020, Spotify Australia & New Zealand has announced a $10,000 contribution to MusicNT. The program will deliver grants of $2,000AUD to allow five eligible applicants to record, promote or distribute music in 2020.
You can spend the $2,000 on anything that allows you to continue to create and release your music in 2020. For example, this includes but is not limited to:
- Producer services (recording, working with a producer)
- Purchasing new equipment relevant to your practice
- Updating your promotional material (photo shoot, film clip, engaging a publicist)
- Business development (working with publicist, distributor etc.)
You will need to provide a budget as part of your application, to show what the money will be spent on, and you will need to provide receipts as part of your acquittal to show where you spent the money.
Yes, you must live within the NT and be a member of MusicNT to receive the grant.
You do not need a Spotify artist profile to submit your application, however you will need to have a Spotify artist profile by 31 August 2020.
As part of the application process, MusicNT can help you set up your Spotify account if you need assistance.
Successful applicants will be notified by late August, 2020. Payment will be made as promptly as possible upon receipt of an invoice to MusicNT.

You can only submit one application to the program.
Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed by MusicNT. If you are successful, MusicNT will contact you to arrange payment of the funding. You will need to provide an invoice to MusicNT for the agreed amount.
Applicants must:
(A) Have completed an application form and submitted to MusicNT
(B) Be a current resident of the NT
(C) Sign up for a Spotify artist account here (if no previous account has been set up) by 31 August 2020.
(D) Be a member of MusicNT
(E) Be planning to create and release new music in 2020
Applications will be assessed solely on how the funding will support you towards future outcomes.
Funding will consider equitable distribution across diversity groups and locations across the Territory.
Each successful applicant will be required to submit a report on their activities.
Applications open July 31, 2020 and close on August 21, 2020.
